In conjunction with Strikes-A-Lot Bowling Alley, Ben Curtis & Poteau Improvement Project the Poteau Farmers Market sponsored by Sugarloaf Farms LLC will be located at their new location for 2018. Centrally located, on North Broadway in the bowling alley parking lot. It will be a prime location for more venders, parking and ample space for sell produce on your tailgate as well as vendors with booths & tents. This location averages 9000 vehicles daily and should be easy access for everyone. Churches, Schools, Boys & Girls club will be welcome with their fund-raising bake sales & raffles. Music will be available as well as a few surprises during the April thru October season.
The Poteau Farmers Market is looking forward to making available grass fed meats, free range chicken, Non GMO eggs, fresh produce, canned goods to name a few, as well as flowers, plants and local area crafts. Wild Things Farm is owned by Jim and Cathie Greene, with a great deal of help from their son Ryan, and daughter Taylor. The 90-acre farm was started in 2000, with great dreams to raise acres and acres of Wild Flowers- hence the name, Wild Things Farm.
Customers come from great distances to pick their own strawberrries from their beautiful fields. In the fall, the great pumpkin patch, hayrides, and now the corn maze and flashlight maze are a popular draw. A large number of school tours visit because at Wild Things Farm they are truly interested in teaching children about the farm, how vegetables are grown, and how animals are raised. There is also a Summer Day Camp on the farm, an exciting 5-day opportunity for children to play and learn.
You can buy Fresh Fruits and Vegetables directly from the farm and find out the fantastic difference of "farm fresh" fruits and vegetables. You'll love the great taste, and can be assured of more healthy nutrients for your family's good health.
Pick-your-own red strawberries in the fields or you can always let them do the picking and buy it at the stand.
Depending on the weather, other fresh vegetable favorites-like sweet corn and tomatoes- will be available around mid-June or early July. You can also select your favorite fresh herbs from the herb garden-you'll love the difference farm-fresh makes! They also have beautiful fields of Sunflowers in the fall!
